Host & Join Events on LetMeBuddy: Meetups, Invites & Reminders (24h, 1h, 10m)
New on LetMeBuddy: host meetups or join sessions with invites, virtual or in-person formats, and reminders at 24 hours, 1 hour, and 10 minutes before start.
Planning a group hangout used to mean endless WhatsApp threads, forgotten calendar invites, and last-minute “wait, where are we meeting?” messages.
LetMeBuddy Events gives adults (18+) a clearer way to host a meetup, share an invite, join a public session, and get timed reminders before it starts — whether the gathering is in person or virtual.
This guide covers what hosted events are, how join and invite flows work, reminder timing (24 hours, 1 hour, and 10 minutes), and when booking a photo-verified Buddy still makes sense alongside a group event.
What are LetMeBuddy hosted events?
Hosted events are group sessions you create and manage in the LetMeBuddy hub. Think trips, casual meetups, dinners, sports, gaming nights, workshops, outings, or professional hangouts — with capacity, schedule, and (optional) pricing set by the host.
You can:
- Browse public events and request to join
- Host your own event and publish when ready
- Share invite links for private / invite-only gatherings
- Track my events (hosted and joined) in one place
Open the product surface at [/hub/events](/hub/events) after you sign in — browse, create, and manage sessions from there.
Host a meetup or session (step by step)
- Sign in and go to Events → create a new event.
- Choose a type (meetup, trip, workshop, sports, gaming, dinner, outing, professional, and more).
- Pick in-person or virtual.
- Set visibility: public (discoverable) or private / invite-only.
- Add title, description, start time, optional end time, city or meeting point, and capacity.
- Mark it free or set a price and payment methods the host accepts.
- Add house rules and cover media if you want clearer expectations.
- Publish when the details look right.
Hosts can manage join requests, payment verification for paid seats, meeting-link or location unlock rules, and day-of details from the event manage screen.
Join a LetMeBuddy event
For public events:
- Browse [/hub/events](/hub/events) and open a listing that fits your city, schedule, and vibe.
- Review host details, capacity / seats left, price (if any), and rules.
- Request or accept a seat following the on-screen join flow.
- For paid events, follow the host’s payment instructions and wait for verification when required.
- Keep an eye on reminders and the event page for location or meeting-link access as the start time approaches.
Prefer company that is purpose-first and platonic? LetMeBuddy is built for adults who want clear intent — not dating apps with mixed signals.
Invite-only events and invite links
Not every hangout should appear in the public browse list. Private events use invite links so the host controls who can see and redeem access.
Typical flow:
- Host creates a private event
- Host generates an invite link and shares it with selected people
- Invitees open the link, sign in if needed, and redeem the invite
- After redeeming, they can view details and complete joining (free or paid) as the host configured
Invite-only is useful for friend circles, cohort workshops, office groups, and closed practice sessions where you still want structured capacity, reminders, and a shared event page.
Reminders: 24 hours, 1 hour, and 10 minutes
Confirmed joiners get automated reminders before the event starts:
- ~24 hours before Plan travel, prep materials, or confirm you’re still free
- ~1 hour before Leave on time / open the laptop for virtual sessions
- ~10 minutes before Final nudge as the session is about to start
Reminders reduce no-shows and the “I completely forgot” problem that kills group plans. Keep notifications enabled so you do not miss the 1-hour and 10-minute windows.
Virtual vs in-person events
In-person
Use a clear city and meeting point. Prefer public, well-lit venues for first meetups. Agree on arrival windows and exit plans in the event description or rules.
Virtual
Hosts add a meeting platform and link. Access may unlock based on host rules (for example after payment is verified). Joiners should test audio/video a few minutes early — the 10-minute reminder is a good cue.
Both modes support the same join / invite / reminder spine; only the access details differ.
Free vs paid hosted events
Hosts can run:
- Free events — great for community meetups and low-friction hangouts
- Paid events — ticket-style seats with host-defined price, currency, and accepted payment methods
Paid seats typically move through accept → payment details → host verification. Always follow the amounts and methods shown on the event; clarify questions with the host before transferring money.
When to book a Buddy and use Events
Hosted events are for group sessions. Sometimes you still want a dedicated, photo-verified person for a one-to-one purpose:
- Plus-one energy at a wedding or conference
- A fitness partner for a training block
- Mentorship before or after a workshop
In those cases, book a Buddy for a focused session, and use Events when you are organising or joining a group. Related reading:

Hosted event vs group chat vs dating apps
- Group chat only No capacity, weak reminders, messy payment tracking
- Dating apps Romance expectations, unclear platonic intent
- LetMeBuddy Events Hosted schedule, seats, invites, reminders, virtual or in-person
If you want to host a meetup, join a session, or run an invite-only hangout with adults who prefer clear purpose, Events is the product path — start at [/hub/events](/hub/events) or [sign in](/login) to open the hub.
Safety and community basics
- Adults 18+ only
- Keep intent platonic and respectful
- Prefer public venues for first in-person meetings
- Share your plan with someone you trust
- Report anything that feels off
- Follow [community guidelines](/community-guidelines)
Location and meeting links may unlock closer to start or after payment verification — treat shared access carefully and do not reshare private invite links beyond the intended guests.
Common questions
Can I host both virtual and in-person events?
Yes. Choose the mode when you create the event. Virtual events need a meeting link; in-person events need a clear meeting point / city context.
Do joiners always get all three reminders?
Reminders target confirmed joiners around the 24-hour, 1-hour, and 10-minute windows before start. Keep notifications on and check the event page if your schedule changes.
Are LetMeBuddy events the same as hiring an event companion?
No. Events are hosted group sessions. Booking a Buddy is a one-to-one marketplace session (for example a platonic event companion). You can use both depending on whether you need a group hangout or dedicated company.
Is hosting free?
Creating and browsing events is part of the LetMeBuddy hub experience. Paid events collect session/ticket amounts according to the host’s listed price and payment methods — LetMeBuddy’s Buddy marketplace still keeps session fees between customer and Buddy for Buddy bookings.
Where do I manage events I already joined or hosted?
Use My events under Events in the hub to switch between hosted and joined lists, then open an event for details or management.
